About KTEH

KTEH Public Television 54 (Comcast 10) was founded in 1964, broadcasting from San Jose in Silicon Valley. As one of more than 300 member stations of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), KTEH serves its viewers with the best programming available from PBS, APT and other national distributors. Especially well known for its Mystery Night programs and popular British programs and series, KTEH provides programming tailored to the needs and interests of its diverse viewing audience, while offering unique local productions such as This is Us; video i, its long-running weekly independent film and video series; and community-focused documentaries like Soldados, Nisei Soldiers and Return to the Valley.

Service to its community is at the heart of KTEH's mission. The station's outreach campaigns combine educational programs, productions, and activities to address community concerns. KTEH partners with community groups with a similar mission to KTEH's to create outreach campaigns, which address school readiness for young children, parenting issues, environmental awareness, drug and alcohol abuse, reading, and much more.

KCAH Public Television 25 (now known as KQET) was acquired by the KTEH Foundation in the late 1990s to extend its reach to the Central Coast of California including the communities of Monterey, Watsonville, Salinas and Santa Cruz. KQET broadcasts from the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Salinas viewing area. It hosts the Spanish-language channel, V-Me, on one of its digital channels.

In 2006, the KTEH Foundation merged with KQED, Inc. to form Northern California Public Broadcasting, the most-watched public television and most-listened-to public radio broadcaster in the country.
