Bodies and Souls illumines the quiet efforts of Sister Manette, a white Catholic nun running the only health clinic in rural Jonestown, Mississippi. Through intimate observational scenes of her with her patients, the film profiles Sister Manette's humble labors "to help save bodies, so that the souls can come alive." Filmmaker Bio

Christie Herring recently received her M.A. in Documentary Film and Video from Stanford University and currently lives in San Francisco where she works in independent film and online media. Herring began making films directly after receiving her undergraduate degree from Duke University, when she collaborated with Andre Robinson in producing and directing Waking in Mississippi. In addition to shooting, editing, and producing film, Herring has worked in public health research, anti-violence outreach, and virtual reality gaming.

TUMAINI LETU (OUR HOPE) – (Dir. Natalie Halpern)

Tumaini Letu (Our Hope) is a film about the lives, struggles, and indomitable spirit of three women left to care for these orphans. Rasoa Kivairu is raising ten grandchildren; Anna Khautu is a single mother of five; and Anna Aredo has taken in four nephews. With limited resources but great resolve they must overcome many challenges to ensure these children have a chance at a better future. Filmmaker Bio

Natalie Halpern is a new filmmaker. Previously Halpern was a local television news bureau chief and a radio producer focusing on coverage of Latin America and Eastern Europe. Born in Hollywood, California, but raised in Miami, Florida, her love of film was nurtured by her Mother who took her to a movie almost every week from the age of four. Halpern received a B.S. in Journalism and a B.A. in Political Science from Boston University. Tumaini Letu is her second film.

UNEASY PEACE (Dir. Niall McKay)

In this film about the peace process in Northern Ireland Irish journalist Niall McKay takes a journey to Belfast, once infamous for riots and bombs, and finds that the hard work of forgiving has begun. McKay's film introduces Catholics and Protestants who are trying to heal their communities and find ways to talk to each other across old divides. Filmmaker Bio

Niall McKay is a San Francisco-based writer and filmmaker. He is the co-founder of the Media Factory, a television production company that specialized in producing short-form content for the digital market place. His film, Uneasy Peace, about the Northern Ireland peace process has been selected to run on PBS FRONTLINE/World Rough Cut series. Currently, Niall is working on a series of short films for the Discovery Channel.
