DUAN QUAN (DIR. JUSTIN WOLSKE)

Duan Quan, which translates to Broken Fists, is a short-punch fighting style of kung fu developed more than 400 years ago in China. In this tale of revenge we follow Liu Xi, a young peasant girl scraping out an existence in the rural Chinese countryside. In a flash, an unknown assailant destroys everything she holds dear. As Xi tries to uncover the mystery of her attacker, she will learn the hard truths about herself and those most important to her. Filmmaker Bio

Justin Wolske is finishing his MFA in film directing from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has directed four films at UCLA, Duan Quan being his third project. Justin's work has competed in such prestigious festivals as the Shanghai International Film Festival, MTV's Best Film on Campus, and LA Shorts Fest, and he has been the recipient of the Jim Morrison Film Award, the Edie & Lew Wasserman Film Production Award and the Joseph Drown Film Production Award. He has recently finished principal photography on his thesis film, a black satirical comedy called Unending Hell. Justin holds a BA in history and philosophy from Indiana University.

The life of a video editor can be a tedious one, sitting in a darkened room in front of a computer screen for hours on end. But, in this exciting thriller, fiction and reality collide and the editor's world turns inside-out. Filmmaker Bio

Character Driven is Writer/Director James Mahoney's M.F.A. thesis film in San Francisco State University's Cinema program. His previous films include New Strings, Car Accident and No Mirrors. Mahoney is also a musician and computer scientist who was born in London, England and raised in Canada, the U.S., and West Africa.
